Area of interest: Illustration
Future/ideal work: I would love to work on children’s books, greeting cards, and editorial pieces, as well as personal work. I love telling stories through my work so anywhere I could implement that would be my dream career.
Why design? I have always loved to draw growing up, and putting my skills to practical use makes this the perfect field for me.
Goals in 5 years: In 5 years I would like to have a full-time design and illustration plus do freelance work on the side.
Inspirations: I am inspired by illustrators of all different styles and backgrounds. This list includes Victo Ngai, Rebecca Green, Kyle James Mountford, Lana Jay, Jean Jullien, and Kaye Blegvad.
Hobbies: I love to read classic literature and modern poetry. It’s been awhile since I’ve written any short stories or worked on my novel but I hope to get back into it after I gradate. One of my favorite things to do is shop for used books and attend poetry slams. I also love anything to do with the outdoors and the natural world, which inspire most of my illustrations. I’ve helped my mother raise and rehabilitate small animals since I was young. She and I have raised young birds, bunnies, squirrels, and frogs for most of my life. My family and I camp, hike, and kayak together several times a year. After I graduate I want to help my mother revive all of our flower gardens around our house, and hopefully I will learn more about gardening by doing so. Another one of my passions is for anything related to STEM (science, engineering, technology, and math.) I’ve been involved with NASA Glenn Research Center since the seventh grade, and hope to work directly with them in the future. Also hope to study more astronomy and attend more star parties in my free time.
Favourite Movies: Baby Driver, Memento, The Prestige, all three Lord of the Rings, all the new Star Treks, The Iron Giant, Kubo and the Two Strings, and hopefully The Isle of Dogs will be my newest favorite!
